USA awarded Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status
The Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status is an initiative of the European Union designed to increase the security of goods transportation in light of the events of 9/11. Companies with proven reliability and a good reputation with customs authorities can apply for the AEO certificate. In practical terms it means fewer physical and administrative checks, and a priority arrangement when controls are carried out. This in turn results in fewer logistic delays and lower administrative costs for the client.
USA achieved the AEO status for all its logistic activities, including customs transactions, stevedoring, Roll on and Roll of, warehousing and transport. A project team led by vice president Paul Brink worked with customs over an intensive period to test all operational, financial and security processes.
Richard ter Haak, Director of the Ter Haak Group, is delighted with the outcome. “We constantly strive for internal quality improvement and the certification process has helped bring our organisation to an even higher level of professionalism. Moreover, the AEO status confirms that we are a secure and well-respected organisation. And our clients will benefit from an even faster handling of their goods, while we can also ensure the security of these goods both physically as well as administratively."
